As if they were made...your words are just stunning. As if they were made as such stuff as Guillem's body and move are made on.
(Of course Nakis waffle as usual as the non official SG's sales representative he's obviously devoted to be and it's a shame we have to read more of his inept comments than your dramatic lines.
Thank you for this.
V.https://www.blogger.com/profile/07092475455692217164noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15930234.post-14246466122232917322011-02-13T09:14:13.533-08:002011-02-13T09:14:13.533-08:00I envy you for having gotten to see her in Manon! ...I envy you for having gotten to see her in Manon! I hope she brings it to the Bay Area eventually (or wherever else I might be at the time)...and I just realized I missed Eonnagata in Berkeley. I thought I'd see if my opinions might change on a second viewing. damn.Larissahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04973507475111468033noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15930234.post-79957281951545853402011-02-13T08:52:30.194-08:002011-02-13T08:52:30.194-08:00Actually "Eonnagata" is the result of Sy...Actually "Eonnagata" is the result of Sylvie Guillem wishing to work with Robert Lepage, someone she hugely admires. I did see the show at Lyons and two times in Paris and actually liked it a lot, although I know many people felt uncofortable with it. I believe that what people did not like was the fact that Guillem did not dance enough and when you have such a dancer of genius people want to see her dancing. On the other hand, Sylvie has the right to explore new horizons and "Eonnagata" was not announced as a dance show. It is a new kind of artistic creation with dance, theater, kabuki, video. I personally felt that the visual impact of "Eonnagata" was very powerful and memorable, I still carry various images of the show in my mind. And aso one has to bear in mind that "Eonnagata" is just another piece in that fascinating puzzle of Guillem's most diversified career and she has certainly not abandonned purely dance projects and not even her classical ballerina's status. On January, 27th, 29th and February 3 Sylvie scored a huge triumph as Manon in Mac Millan's ballet "L'histoire de Manon" at La Scala in Milan, Italy. I was there for the première, and it was an unforgettable experience in every sense of the word and Sylvie remains an incopmparble dancer, actress-dancer of genius. Her Manon will always remain as one of the most precious treasures of my life. It will be wonderful if more theaters around the world both in Europe (The Paris Opera House, Royal Opera House in London) or the US would follow La Scala's exemple so that "Manon" will be performed in the near future in other theater houses aaround the world. Through all these years she has portraying the part, not only she has lost nothing of her extraordinary technique and grace but she has gained in maturity and beauty. And she is also preparing a new dancing show with pieces by three of the most pre-eminent choreographer sof our times (Matts Ekk, Forsythe, Kyllian) which I believe will be rpesented at Sadler's Theater in London next July. The piece by Matts Ekk wasa lready rpeseneted in Stockholm last December and was a huge success.Nakishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02889077245041696598noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15930234.post-23140067860080724142011-01-27T09:17:27.716-08:002011-01-27T09:17:27.716-08:00thank you! love the book reviews, btw...thank you! love the book reviews, btw...Larissahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04973507475111468033noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15930234.post-19152278484365448062011-01-27T06:44:40.273-08:002011-01-27T06:44:40.273-08:00Your writing is so beautiful and well-informed.
